IMMORTAL PRODUCTIONS started out over 5 years ago with three founding partners who met while studying together. The original idea was to utilize the specific strengths of each partner to offer a range of services in multi-media.
In the first couple of years the focus was on not only designing and building websites, but we also started to branch into video production. We wrote, produced, directed and starred in a music video for New Zealand artist O.G. which was successfully aired on New Zealand television.
Then after creating a successful promo CD-Rom for the New Zealand music and arts festival Splore 06 (using existing footage from previous Splore events), Immortal landed a documentary project to film the three day music event.
We successfully filmed and edited a 30 minute documentary about Splore along with another promo video to promote Splore 08 (see video - right), however discussions were had and it was decided not to pursue video production for the time being.
All three partners were operating Immortal in their spare time while maintaing day jobs and while the motivation to keep plugging away was there, bills still needed to be paid.
One partner decided to move to Australia where his Flash skills could command a higher income, and another landed a great opportunity to travel and work for a film company contracted to produce a documentary for National Geographic.
That left one of the original three to continue the company. His interest and skill set lay firmly with web design and development, hence five years on, Immortal Productions has continued to grow in a more focused direction.
To this day, Immortal still operates after-hours with the one remaining partner working as a web analyst during the day and a web designer in his spare time. This enables Immortal to provide a cheaper service than what would be industry standard because we don't have the high overheads associated with large agencies. When we are busy we have a set of contractors available to help us finish projects.
However there is a draw back to this which we point out to all our clients before committing to any new projects. We are not available during the day so any enquiries, updates or communications have to be dealt with in the evening. But because of this reduced level of service we do not charge like a wounded bull, so our clients do not mind working with us!
